In celebration of the National Children’s Month, the Local Government Unit of Dolores today, led by Mayor Robert Victor G. Seares, Jr., recited the “Panatang Makabata”, pledging to support and promote the rights of Children in Dolores. After which, Mayor Seares delivered his State of the Children Report. He mentioned that the whole month of November is filled with activities that the children can gain a lot from, citing the upcoming Earthquake Drill, the awarding of the Seal of Good Local Governance, a multi sectoral health caravan, and the return of Diether Ocampo to Dolores who last visited the humble town bearing gifts last 2011.

Among the accomplishments mentioned by the Mayor was the consistent support to the Supplemental Feeding Program which has led to an excellent nutritional status for Dolores – consistently below 10% stunting, the non stop construction and rehabilitation of roads and school buildings which has led to low drop out numbers, the funding of state of the art equipment for Child Development Centers providing all 25 Daycare Centers with LED TVs for an immersive learning experience, and the establishment of Violence Against Women and Children Desks in all 15 barangays of Dolores.

He challenged all public servants to decrease the prevalence of teenage pregnancy as 1 out of 10 pregnant women in the town are teenagers, which is dangerous for both the safety, the nutrition, and the future of the mother and the child.
